We collapse back on the bed, Cassidy against the pillows and me atop her, but I don’t pull myself out of her tight core.

I can’t bear to. She feels too good.

Instead, I wrap my arms around her, my hips moving slightly as I revel in the sensation of her body enveloping my still half-hard cock, and I kiss her everywhere I can reach. I kiss her forehead, her nose, her cheeks, her jaw, and her lips, stroking her hair and face as if I’m trying to memorize every line of her.

I want more already. More of her. More of everything we just did.

It had been a while for me. There are very few unmated Zivonian women aboard The Oasis, and for some time now, Ryven has been hesitant to let any of us venture out into the cities on the planets we stop at to refuel and resupply. I understand it, of course. With the Kruul threat, it’s better to be safe than sorry, and the fewer sightings of our people there are to be reported back to the Kruul, the better. But that doesn’t change the fact that the unmated men have had little opportunity to slake our physical needs, and it’s been building up for some time now. I’ve gotten very tired of tending to myself.

Still, this is more than that. I’ve had my fair share of sex, but never anything like what I just experienced with Cassidy.

I was worried at first, after I kissed her on the control deck, that I had frightened her or dredged up bad memories. She’s shared some of the trauma she’s been through with me, and I suspect that what she’s told me is only a very small part of it.

But the way she pulled me down to kiss her again in spite of all that? The way she gave herself over to me so completely?

It means more to me than I know how to properly explain to her. The passion that I felt in her makes me want it again and again, and I know it’s more than just the desire burning between us that made what we just did so incredible.

It’s trust.

We trust each other, and that means everything to me.

Slowly, reluctantly, I slide out of her, rolling onto my side and gathering her into my arms. Cassidy tilts her head to look at me as I run my fingers through her hair, pushing the sun-colored strands away from her face. There’s a small smile on her lips, and it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

“That was incredible,” she says softly. “I’ve never—” She pauses, swallowing hard. “I’ve never enjoyed sex before. I never knew it could be like that.”

I hesitate, looking down into her soft brown eyes, her sweet and delicate face. “Never? Not even on Earth, before?”

Cassidy shakes her head, her expression clouding a little. “I was a virgin when I was abducted,” she murmurs. “Tarric was my first.”

For a moment, I can’t think of what to say.
